This is a historic home and a museum. The house was owned by Jiro Shirasu and his wife, Masako. Jiro Shirasu was a scholar at Cambridge University while Masako was an art historian and essayist. With the couple’s artistic knowledge and talents, they have transformed their house into a treasure cove of Japanese arts. Buaiso is one of the few houses with thatched roofs in Tokyo. Today, the house is turned into a museum with a cafe where visitors can taste some of Masako’s own recipes.
