March to April: Sakura Festival

June 30 – July 2: Aizen Festival

Amidst the parade where young women are being in a small carriage-like float carried on the shoulders of men are different Japanese snacks and goodies being sold on the streets. The Aizen Festival signals the beginning of summer in Osaka.

Mid September: Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri Festival

This festival is one of Osaka’s great festivals. Together with the beat of the drums, the shouting of the crowds as they harmoniously pull a 5 ton wooden shrine along the street of Osaka. The heavy yet beautifully ornate shrine is being paraded around the neighborhood of Kishiwada on the second day of the festival. The first day also features a parade in front of Kishiwada station.
