Autumn is the season for the famous Kawagoe Festival. The spectacular floats that are featured in this festival are said to have roots dating back to the early years of the Edo Period. Paper lanterns, music, dance, and numerous food and souvenir stalls also fill the streets of Kawagoe during this season.

Aside from the vibrant colors during the autumn season, one thing that locals and even people from outside Japan look forward to in Saitama is the Tour de France Saitama Criterium held every October. It is a racing event where riders from other countries and Japanese cyclists come together to compete in a 3,5km long circuit. This big event has about 200,000 spectators on the roadsides of the circuit to witness the race.
