Sumida is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. It lies east of central Tokyo. The ward was founded back on the 15th of March, 1947. The ward is named from the river next to it – Sumida River. As of 2015, the ward has an estimated population of 257,300.

The Sumida Ward is home to a famous cherry blossom viewing area. In spring, It is along the Sumida River near the Asakusa Station meanwhile during the summer it is the Sumida River Fireworks Festival.
