The main site of the Sapporo Snow Festival is Odori Park. It showcases the exhibits of the large snow sculptures. Large is an understatement as the sculptures are as big as buildings. Imagine entering into a building made with ice, such a masterpiece!

Susukino Site

The Susukino Ice Festival takes place on a public street, and you can see it at any time.

Tsudome Site

This site offers family-oriented activities. A suitable place for children and children by heart. Tsudome has indoor and outdoor facilities so you can take a break from the cold.

You can build a snowman here or throw a snowball which is so fun to do. The real attractions of this site are the hills and slides. You can sled, fly down ice slides, and go snow rafting on inflatable tubes. Heads up: this site is only open 9 am to 6 pm but actually starts earlier, from the 1st of February.

To experience most of the fun in Sapporo, visit at night when the ice sculptures are illuminated with different colored lights. Of course, you really need warmer clothing, never slip that from your mind.

 

Delicious Food

Sapporo is one of two cities in Japan synonymous with ramen. Fukuoka is famous for its tonkotsu pork broth ramen while Sapporo is known for its miso-based version. Miso ramen is made with pork bones and flavored with miso. The noodles are topped with slices of pork belly, hard-boiled eggs, bean sprout, corn, and bamboo shoots and often served with chili oil. Miso ramen is perfect for the weather of Sapporo as it is freezing cold.
