Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in Osaka is one of the 6 Universal Studios Theme Park in the world and is the very first Universal Studios Theme Park to be built in Asia. Sections and Attractions Guide

The whole theme park is divided into 9 sections: Hollywood, New York, Minion Park, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Universal Wonderland.

HOLLYWOOD

Upon entering through the entrance gate, the first section you’ll find is the Hollywood section. This is where the main arcade and most of the shopping and dining places is located. Hollywood Dream The Ride and Hollywood Dream The Ride Backdrop are the two main attractions in this section. The former is a 44-meter long roller coaster ride while the latter is a thrilling reverse roller coaster ride.

 

NEW YORK

In this section, you will find the 3D experience ride of Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. You can also watch The Terminator 2: 3D theater show in this section and witness the scenes of the famous movie live. 42nd Street Studio is also located here where you can take commemorative photos with the Minions and the Peanuts characters.

 

MINION PARK

After the New York section is the Minion Park where you can interact more with the adorable characters of Universal Picture’s Minions. The main attraction in this section is the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride which simulates the experience of becoming a minion. You can also enjoy a wild race on ice on Freeze Ray Sliders.

 

SAN FRANCISCO

Compared to other sections, San Francisco is rather a smaller section with Backdraft, a simulation of fire scenes from the movie Backdraft, as its only attraction. The Lagoon is also located in this section which is considered as the center of USJ. Seasonal events like the lagoon show for Peter Pan’s Neverland and other light shows are also held here.

 

JURASSIC PARK

This whole section is dedicated to the famous 1993 film, Jurassic Park. The Jurassic Park section only has 2 attractions but these two attractions are among the popular ones in USJ. Jurassic Park – The Ride is a water ride that will give you a cinematic experience of Jurassic Park where dinosaurs await in specified locations. The other attraction is an upside-down roller coaster called Flying Dinosaur.

 

WATERWORLD

Waterworld is a small section in the park where a theater show that resembles the action-packed scenes from the 1995 movie, Waterworld, is held. There are specific hours for this show so it is better to check the schedule before going inside to save your time.

 

 

AMITY VILLAGE

This is one of the most thrilling sections in the park where you can find the Jaws ride which is known as USJ’s “boat ride of fear”. The Amity Village section also has an exclusive restaurant called Amity Landing Restaurant that mainly serves sandwiches and fried chicken.

 

 

THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

The entrance of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is an open area with standing rocks that resembles Stonehenge.  The main attractions in this section are Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a ride that will make you a part of the story of Harry Potter and his adventures, and Flight of the Hippogriff, a family-friendly roller coaster that will take flight on Hagrid’s garden. You can also walk around the area and enjoy different activities such as Wand Studies, Frog Choir, and more.

 

UNIVERSAL WONDERLAND

Universal Wonderland is the best section for kids but young adults and adults can also enjoy this section. This section has the most number of rides which are all child-friendly. The playland Moppy’s Lucky Dance Party can also be found in this section where kids can enjoy dancing with the music.
